In this video I explore several portrait and non-portrait coins of Julius Caesar. One of them including the lifetime issue coin of Julius Caesar featuring his portrait where he strayed from the Roman Republican tradition of not portraying kings on their coins.
I feature coins of Augustus, Mark Antony, Friend and General of Augustus, Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa. I also illustrate the point of how Julius Caesar looked up to Alexander the Great and that he even visited his tomb. I also featured a coin of Pompey the Great, the enemy of Julius Caesar. Then there is the mention of the great naval sea battle of Actium in 31 B.C. where Mark Antony got defeated by Octavian Augustus. A coin is shown which shows the victory of Augustus of the forces of assassins of Julius Caesar, Brutus and Cassius.
